The Coulson Racing System

About the Books..

There are three types of books available from Mervyn Coulson; Individual Course Books, Course Compilation Books and his latest addition a fun puzzle book.

Favourite Favourites: These two books are a compilation of All non-handicap Races at individual courses from mid 1988 to the end of the 2006 flat season, covering the fortunes of favourites in both two and three year olds plus races; the effects of the draw, going conditions, months of the year, movement in the betting, average odds and trainers are all analysed and laid out in easy to understand statistical charts backed up by conclusions, both positive and negative. 17 courses are included in the Southern Edition, with the remaining 16 courses covering the North and Scotland these are published in the Northern Edition.
A unique feature of these books is a complete section of league tables, clearly demonstrating how differing courses fared in respect to the criteria mentioned above. The punter with limited time on his hands will find these tables invaluable.

About the Author..

Mervyn Coulson has been a keen follower of horse racing for many years; he spent most of his working life in Education both as a teacher and College lecturer.

In the late 1980’s he decided to undertake a major study of all non-handicap flat racing in the UK. The research covers both two and three year olds plus races, concentrating on the effects of the draw, going conditions, times of the year, winning trainers, movement in the betting and average odds.

The information gleaned from the study points the way toward knowing when to have a bet or leave well alone, and whether backing at first show or starting price is preferable.

For a considerable period of time Mervyn compiled the weekly Racing Post crossword, and now specialises in general sporting puzzles.

Mervyn lives with his wife Marian and son Steven in North East Essex.
